The Windsurfing Clinic Details - Prasonisi, Greece

The action

• Stance­ planing early, sailing faster both up and downwind, getting control
• Carve gybes ­ from learning to improving your turns to getting that elusive planing gybe.
• Tacking ­ learning and improving this very useful and fundamental skill
• Freestyle­ introduction and improvement in lots of new and useful tricks
• Jumping ­ experience your first airtime, try some forward loops, learn to Vulcan or any other stunts you fancy
• Forward Looping - This is covered on the Int / advanced weeks and for the people really wanting this move. I will show you how to pop and loop in style and give you all the drills, coaching and encouragement in order to get you to pull the trigger. I have had huge success and amazing results with many people and the supportive and focussed environment of a coaching clinic is THE place to get this move!
• Ladies focussed Clinic / 'Jem's Jewels' - I will be assisted by a female co - coach, Rachel Tucker, who will be providing support, inspiration, encouragement and the toppest of tips. As a qualified instructor, very competent sailor and a sailor I have coached from beach starts to gybing, wave sailing and freestyle tricks she is a fantastic addition to this new addition to my coaching tour that I am hugely excited about. This week will have a minimum amount of places set aside for ladies so as to get the best out of the focussed tuition and so you can take the opportunity to have shared rooms so as to keep your costs down. The remaining places on the clinic will be filled by men or women, so you can bring male friends, partners, husbands and caddies : )

I will be coaching through use of windsurfing simulators, on-water coaching and video coaching. Please feel free to give me feedback on how it is going for YOU at any time so I can give you the best opportunity to develop.

Your windsurfing ability
To get the best out of this clinic participants will need to be fully blasting in the harness and footstraps, waterstarting and be ready to learn or be attempting carve gybes. If you are advanced then the sky is the limit ­I have had people learning a range of moves from 360s to loops, vulcans to spocks.

Accommodation
We will be staying at the very hospitable and friendly Hotel Lighthouse. There is a further option of staying in the more comfortable Lighthouse II with Air-con and TV, a short walk way. The package is half board with a generous breakfast and evening meal available. Wireless is now available in the taverna and down at the Pro centre!

Windsurfing kit
It is a very high quality Pro Centre with very friendly and helpful staff, with JP boards that are powered along by Neil Pryde sails. When booking your board through Sportif I recommend the below boards or a suitable alternative.

• Intermediates and heavy intermediates ­ JP Xcite ride 122 - 134 (medium to heavy weights) and 146 for the heavier riders
• Advanced intermediates ­ JP Freestyle Waves (lightweights to medium weights) or the All ride 106 & 116
• Lighter or more advanced people ­ JP Freestyle waves 102 or the 93, Freestyle 98 (medium weights, heavy weights on the 107) and 89 for the lighter riders
• Freestylers and loopers ­ Freestyle 98 (medium weights) or the 107 for bigger riders or 112 FSW

The Windsurfing
Wind in Greece is very consistent: 5 DAYS OUT 0F 7 AVERAGE OVER 7 YEARS, ALOT OF WEEKS AT 100% WIND! Choose from cross-off from the right with the very reliable Meltemi getting a local boost to give us flat water and chop, or, a short sail upwind, there is also a cross onshore beach giving us small waves to practice on or get into bump and jump/wavesailing. This place almost seems designed to help you improve whilst giving you an awesome range of windsurfing conditions.

The social
The social will revolve around us meeting up for some  pre-dinner drinks and then having dinner together in the restaurant, where we may peruse the days video action. There will be a mid-week option of an evening out to the beautiful town of Lindos, with its roof-top restaurants and stylish bars. It is all pretty relaxed and we have some great chat and share a good laugh at our daily stunts.

The travel
Wednesday morning flights from Gatwick lasting 4 hours on Thomson followed by a coach transfer lasting just over an hour. If it’s like last year we can get a sail either on the final morning or first afternoon giving us that magic 7 days possible water time!

Other activities
Should your aching limbs need any other action then there is Volleyball and some fantastic walks, or take a drive round the island. Bookings can be made locally for any other excursions should you require and the centre now has some SUPs for hire.
